Q: How can the the new Cadillac coupe be called a CTS Coupe? Catera Touring Sedan Coupe!? Makes no sense to me.?
To my understanding I’ve known the “TS” to stand for touring sedan in the Cadillac line up. An example would be the STS: Seville Touring Sedan and the CTS: Catera(I believe) Touring Sedan. How can Cadillac’s new coupe be called a Touring Sedan Coupe? Should’nt the car be called the CTC??? After all they did have an ETC: Eldorado Touring Coupe
A: CTS doesn’t mean Catera Touring Sedan, it more-or-less means C-series Touring Sedan. If you use that name, then CTS coupe and CTS wagon don’t make much sense. But, if you just think of the car as the CTS, then it’s fine.
Remember, back in the day they used STS and ETC after the car name, so it was Seville Seville-Touring-Sedan (Seville STS) and Eldorado Eldorado-Touring-Coupe (Eldorado ETC), so it didn’t make sense then either.

Has anyone seen or know anything about the new Cadillac CTS-V?
I was watching a video on the northwest cadillac site (http://www.mycadillacstorynw.com) and there was a women at the Seattle Seahawks – Cadillac Reserve Club talking about it.
It looks cool..but is it expensive? Are you better off getting a fully loaded 2009 Cadillac CTS or at least waiting for the 2010 Cadillac CTS coupe? Does anyone own the 2008 that could make any recommendations?

A: WOW! What a car! It is the best Cadillac out there! It runs on a Supercharged and intercooled OHC V-8. It uses the small block V-8 that the new Corvette ZR-1 has. The CTS-V has 556 horsepower coming out of its huge 6.2 liter V-8. The Caddy can hit 0-60 in 4.5 seconds with a manual transmission and 4.4 seconds with an automatic transmission! With a manual it can hit 191 in 6th gear! All of this for a Starting price of about $60,000, I think that is a bargain for what it is! It is the fastest production sedan. It is also faster (and cheaper) than a BMW M5 and a Mercedes Benz E56 AMG! (I may have gotten the numbers wrong on the Benz) Check it out on automobilemag.com or motortrend.com, they have both driven it and loved it, there are also pictures and videos about the V. Don’t buy a regular CTS when you can get it all!! And, don’t wait for the coupe, sure it has a package that can get 545 hp, but the V is nicer, more luxurious and more practical! Plus it will be close to the price (Fully stocked) of the CTS-V, also the V is faster by a landslide! Go for it!
Q: Alarm System on My Cadillac Cts 2009 won’t work! Help?

I bought the brand new Cadillac CTS 2009
4 months ago. Recently someone in my building have been damaging my car. Like, making small – medium dents on my car and the alarm won’t sound. The twisted my mirror and it still won’t sound, too. I don’t know what to do. I live in Dubai, UAE. The car is only used for up to 5000 kilometers – 3106 miles. It’s not a lot. I don’t know what to do. Should I go back to the dealer? It feels like anyone can steal my car, break it into pieces and the alarm still won’t work…
When I had my car in USA just if you just touch it the alarm works.
Please give me some advice…

A: The CTS-V is faster from a roll. Look at the MPH at the end of the 1/4 mile.
The RS$ is faster off the line because of its all wheel drive.

I have a new CTS with Bose option. TERRIBLE XM recption (wy wife’s Pontiac has crystal clear). Complained to the dealership and was told there was a TSB on the issue. Does anyone else have this problem?
Thanks for the answer. The TSB is unrelated to the SAT problems – it’s a radio problem.
A: I’m sorry you’re having issues with your CTS. If there is a TSB there should be a recommended repair. Call the service manager of the dealership and have him go over the TSB for you. If they give you any trouble call Cadillac at 800-333-4223. They will help you out. If the dealer has tried to fix it and can’t, make sure they called technical assistance for help figuring out the problem. Good luck
Q: Buying a new car tomorrow, 2010 Cadillac cts-v or a 2010 Nissan Gtr premium?
I have test drive both cars already and they all seem to have good speed and handling, but I’m worry about the maintenance/gas in the future. Also note to that I’ll be using the car for weekend drive only about 5-15miles. I’m not marry therefore I have no need to worry about spaces. Also I don’t race with these cars just to use around to cruise in the city.
Anyone own any of these two, would want to give me a head up about them?
I need reasonable answers; I don’t want a bunch of answers that say pick this one.
A: If that is really going to be your usage pattern I think you’re being rather foolish to buy a car at all. Weekend rentals can be surprisingly cheap and you may be able to negotiate an even better price on annual contract by guaranteeing to rent a certain number of weekends. It will cost you less than buying, you can choose a different car every weekend, and next year or the year after you’ll be driving a new car rather than a two or thee year old one.
If you don’t want to rent you should look into a lease with a low mileage limit.
Q: GM goes bankrupt. Do prices of new Cadillac cars go down at the dealership?
Hey guys. I”ve been patiently waiting to buy my dream car. Cadillac CTS-V. I’ve been catching up on the news and it looks like GMs going to file bankruptcy. Should i wait to purchase the cts-v so prices go down, however the local creepy salesman is pressuring me to buy now because “Caddilac prices will stay as is even if GM goes under.”
A: Bankruptcy doesn’t mean GM will “go under”. That seems to be a common fallacy on here. GM will continue business as usual even if they do file for bankruptcy protection. Bankruptcy might actually strengthen GM in the long run.
Prices have and always will be based on demand. If the CTS-V continues to sell well, there is no reason to drop the price on it.
Q: 2003 Cadillac sts or cts good first car?
I can get one used with 130,000 miles from a close friends grandma. Also the car has been well maintained with regular checkups. I am not sure which brand it is though. Its not the new cadillac sedans taht are advertised everywhere. But i have read that they have maintenence problems. So im wondering if $2000 is worth spending on this car. What do you think? Also senior in highschool so looking for this deal to get me through college.
A: Get the exact model & engine type and vin and search them online.
Duno if it has the GM Northstar engine, but they’r know for bad head gaskets, an expensive fix.
Take it to a Caddy dealer and have em check it, including a pressure test on the cooling system to get an idea of the head gaskets.
Check on those checkups: who did what.
$2k is a good price.
As for a car making you look like Big Man on Campus, prob 1/2 the students are biking or walking.

A: The new CTS is a far better looking car than the previous generation. It is also vastly improved in every way. The fit and finish both inside and outside of the vehicles is worlds better than the vehicle it replaced. The handling characteristics are more stable and on center, and the power is delivered more smoothly. Previously the CTS was just another also ran in the entry lux segment. Now, it is a serious challenger for any of the European and Asian competition.
Q: Why is Cadillac false advertising with the CTS? They are making it look fast, but it really isn’t.?
Not to mention the fact that it’s a Cadillac, a prettied up GM product that will inevitably show it’s lack of quality within a year or two along with huge losses via depreciation because it’s an American made piece of Junk. I mean come on! My Acura TL is faster than the new CTS and it’s not even meant to be a really fast car. Unless you want to pay for the CTS-V an even bigger waste of money, you can’t consider this car fast.
A: Aren’t ALL commercials false advertising, at least to some degree? I mean, everything is perfect, the best, will last forever, etc. according to commercials for the product.

A: Both vechicles are great choices, however I think the new Cadillac CTS is a better vehicle than the BMW. I have driven both and although the BMW can have some exotic options, the CTS is a more practical car and won “JD Power’s Car of th Year” award for a reason. Everyone has their own opinions, so I would test drive both and compare which you like better. Good luck.
Q: On a Cadillac CTS (2003) How do you change the trunk Strut?
One of my trunk struts broke off and I do not see any means of taking off the old part and replace it with a new one.
A: Just “pops” on and off.
Q: Where can I get a Cadillac CTS-v NAV for my cts 2004?
I want a brand new one and is it possible to fit the nav on the cts noting that the nav is for the CTS V ?
A: You get the original only at the dealer.
It would be cheaper to get a small aftermarket unit. They sell them everywhere (Radio Shack, Sears, Circuit city, etc.)
