Q: Where can i buy a new or used 2000 Ford Explorer front Bumper?
i need thissss!!!!!
I saw some on Ebay. What do they mean by covers, isnt it a bumper. And can they be trusted???

A: Ebay, or your local ford dealer can probably help you find one.

Q: How much does a Ford Explorer Sport typically go for?
How much does the truck cost depending on the year it was made? I’m thinking about buying a used Ford Explorer Sport, but I have no idea about the price ranges. Thanks.
ford sport trac*

A: $4000 to $8000 depending on year, mileage, options and condition…

Q: I’m thinking about getting a used 1994 ford explorer. i want some feed back on the performance of this vehicle?
what is the gas mileage like and performance of this year of vehicle.

A: My dad has the same car…. it runs very well, and has lasted us thing long so far (he has been the only owner). The controls are all nice, and it is pretty spacious for a truck. Overall, it is a great car (and has been for our family): we haven’t had any problems with it yet!

Q: We are considering buying a used Ford Explorer (1997-2000).?
For those who have owned one, please tell me what you like or dislike about them. What are some common problems?

A: i loved mine. when i hit a tree going about 35-40 both air bags activated. car was totaled but i was unhurt. the large hooded front was a blessing. its a good safe vehicle i think.

Q: I have a question can the IAC from a 99 ford explorer be used on a 98 ford explorer?
yes or no?
yes i did clean it but it needs a new one because it started making a whistling noise

A: Yes,if they both have the same size engine they definitely interchange.

Q: thinking of buying a used 1996 ford explorer?
hoping someone can tell me what to look for before buying this car?

A: You need to make sure there is no rust, and make sure the tires are good. Then, you will need to test drive it. If you are satisfied with the test drive, you need to get a Carfax report, and have the truck inspected by a certified mechanic that YOU trust (not the seller’s buddy down the road who works on cars).

Q: Replacing Key Fob for a 1999 Ford Explorer?
I just bought a used Ford Explorer, but a key fob was not given to me. I can’t imagine that It wasn’t included in the original sale. Can you get a replacement from a dealer?

A: Keyless entry is an optional feature, so it’s possible that it wasn’t included on your vehicle. If it was, then a dealer should be able to provide a replacement key fob; however, you might find it’s cheaper to have an after-market keyless entry system installed, especially if you need more than one remote.

Q: installing a used trans in a ford explorer?
I am installing a salvage trans in a 1991 ford explorer. The book says to mark the torque converter before removal which i understand is for balance. but how can the new torque converter be installed for balance. I am an ase mechanic so i have a good understanding of vehicles

A: The reason they mark the converter when pulling it is for easy install but when using a new converter or even a new flywheel there isnt anyway to quick line it other than guess, so you put the converter bolts in hand tight untill you get them all in ensuring that all is lined up properly! Good Luck

Q: Where can I find a used 2001 ford explorer sport trac HOOD already with a hood scope on it?

A: Hard to find. They didn’t sell many of those relative to other Explorers. Having said that, thank your lucky starts because that my friend is a waste of money!

Q: Do I have a warranty on my 2006 Ford Explorer? I bought it used from CarMax, does it transfer to me?
I have no clue, does a three year/36k mile warranty carry over? I bought it used from CarMax, it is an 06, and I have 17k miles on it, but don’t know if the warranty would still be valid for me? If so, can I just take it in to any dealership for repair, and they would then recoginize the warranty on it?

A: Yes, the manufacturers warranty stays with the vehicle no matter who owns it and how many owners.
The dealer will tell you if you got warranty left on it.

Q: How do i use the 4 wheel drive on a 2000 Ford Explorer, Have never used it before.?
I have had this SUV for just over a year, not sure how to use the 4X4, it didnt come with a manuel, I am not sure if it needs to be in park or do you just turn the button while driving. thanks for any help.

A: You should be able to shift it in on the fly (while the vehicle is moving). I always try to keep the vehicle as slow as possible or stop before I put it in. You’ll feel a lugging in the front end when turning, and you shouldn’t drive it when the roads are dry.

Q: Which used transmissions will work with my 1998 Ford Explorer?
1998 Ford Explorer XLT automatic transmission is slipping going into third gear. Which years will still fit? I recall the 1997 and 1998 Explorer tranny is the same. What about Ford Ranger?

A: there should be a service tag on the side of trans. but i would be careful of switching between years of vehicles, they change the electronics from year to year usually and from vehicle to vehicle. best bet is to build the 1 you got.

Q: What is the best year for Ford Explorer’s?
I want to buy a used Ford Explorer i need to know what year to get

A: Your best years for a Ford Explorer seem to be ‘02 and ‘06 according to Consumer Reports.

Q: What are your thoughts on a 1998 Ford Explorer?
I am hoping to buy a used 1998 Ford Explorer within the next week from an owner. It seems it was well-kept but has almost 150K miles. It has a re-manufactured transmission with 20K miles on it.

I want to know roughly how many miles do Fords usually get?

If you own a Ford Explorer, what do you think of it?

Thanks!

A: I owned a ‘98 Explorer that I bought in 2000. It had 18k miles when we bought it, and 85k when we sold it. We usually don’t keep a vehicle much past 90k miles.

It was a good, comfortable SUV that gave decent mpg, great in the snow, and I don’t think it ever left us stranded.

Ours had the 4.0 V6 that ran great, but we did have the timing chain replaced at about 30k miles, due to a strange noise. According to others, that was a rare problem.

We had an issue with the automatic 4WD transfer case shuddering under acceleration. The dealer changed all kinds of parts with no success, so I changed the fluid in the transfer case and fixed it for under $3.00. It was burned fluid, and the problem never came back.

After the string of vehicles we have owned since, I wish we had the old Explorer back. With proper maintenance and no abuse, it should go past 200k miles before any major repairs are required.

Q: i bought a used 1999 ford explorer and it only has one leaf on each side of the rear is that normal?

A: IF ITS THE TWO DOOR SPORT MODEL YES IT HAS ONLY 1 SPRING IN THE REAR THE 4 DOOR MODEL HAS THE FULL SET IN THE REAR.YOU CAN BUY AFTER MARKET SHOCKS FROM MONROE THAT HAVE COIL SPRINGS OVER THE SHOCKS TO HELP WITH HAULING AND TOWING.I PUT THEM ON MY 99 AND IT RIDES SO MUCH BETTER.
